BUENOS AIRES (AP) — Thiago Messi, the eldest son of the Argentina star, has made his debut in the “Newell’s Cup” tournament in the countryside city of Rosario.

The 12-year-old Messi played with the No. 10 jersey of an Inter Miami youth team, which lost 1-0 on Monday to host Newell’s Old Boys in the traditional under-13 competition. The team also played Tuesday.

Greg Desrosiers Jr. caught two scoring passes and ran for a touchdown, and Memphis defeated No. 18 Tulane 34-24 to knock the Green Wave out of contention for a berth in the College Football Playoff. While Tulane was not likely to make the new 12-team CFP, it had to win its regular-season finale and next week’s conference title game to have a chance. Instead, the Green Wave turned the ball over three times deep in Memphis territory as their streak of regular-season conference victories ended at 17. Memphis' Mario Anderson Jr. rushed for 177 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown. Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah passed for 317 yards and two scores and was intercepted once.

Then his two turnovers led to touchdowns for the Dallas Cowboys in a 27-20 loss. New York is 2-10 with a seven-game losing streak. Lock became the third different Giants starting quarterback in three games. Daniel Jones was benched and released, and Tommy DeVito developed a sore arm. Lock was 21-of-32 passing for 178 yards with an interception. He got sacked six times, fumbling on one of those. He ran four times for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Braden Smith had 11 points and and Fletcher Loyer 10 for Purdue, which improved to 6-1.
